Little White Lies and BERSIH

BERSIH Chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah, denied yesterday (pic) that they are being funded by NED - only by the NDI and the OSI.

The NED, the overt arm of the CIA, is widely suspected of "regime change" activities and protecting USA interests overseas - hence the virulent denial by BERSIH that it is NED funded.

If you don't know what the National Endowment of Democracy is and what it does, you need to watch this documentary:

Who wants to be accused of receiving funds from a group known to subvert democracy and cause (many times, violent) regime change, right?

Ukraine, China and all the Arab Spring countries can tell you all about the NED, And why Russia also bans them.

None of the countries destabilized by the NED have come out any better - there was catastrophic damage to their economy and many lives were lost. Go visit Syria or Ukraine or Egypt or Algeria etc, and ask them.

Unfortunately, what BERSIH did not tell you is that the funds from NDI comes from the NED!

I did not lie! I said we never received funds from NED, I just "forgot" to mention that NDI funds are directly from NED mah, sorry ah!

NED itself says on their own website that it has a "special relationship with four core U.S. grantees that represent the building blocks of a democratic society" - one of it is the "NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS (NDI)"

"Each of these four grantees receives an equal portion of NED’s grant budget – and each program is carefully developed with NED program staff and approved by NED’s board of directors, just like any other grantee.".

This means that 25% of NED's annual grant budget given by the USA govt is given to the NDI, which then funds BERSIH. Thus BERSIH is indeed funded by the NED.

(as a sidenote, the NED also funds political parties in Malaysia - which could be the reason why these parties do not want to reveal their funders and objected to PM Najib's earlier push to reform election funding in Malaysia)

Ever wonder why NED funds Penang and Selangor state govts only?

As for the OSI (Open Society Institute) mentioned by BERSIH, it is now known as the Open Society Foundation (OSF).

It was founded by George Soros in 1993 and was reported to have spent USD11 billion (RM41b) on various movements worldwide so far on the same goals as NED.

(George Soros' foundations also owns 29% of MalaysiaKini, which MalaysiaKini was forced to admit in their own statement on their own website)

In fact, both NED and OSI are closely linked and typically works together. There is much information and proof about their close collaboration.

George Soros was the person who attacked Malaysia's economy in 1997-1998 and famously said to Tun M to "See you at 5" - meaning he was going to attack us until the Ringgit is 1USD = RM5.

Therefore, BERSIH is funded by the overt arm of the CIA for regime change and the person who has attacked Malaysia's economy and profited from it.

Don't be naive! These people fund you because you are doing exactly what they want you to do. They don't just throw money around for no reason.

Two days ago, BERSIH had said it will hold simultaneous BERSIH 4.0 overnight rallies in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Sarawak on 29-30 August 2015.

Word is that they target 1 million protesters.

Ex-BERSIH chairperson Ambiga had also threatened Malaysia two days ago that we must "form a temporary non-partisan govt NOW or face Sri-Lanka style street protests." via BERSIH 4.0.

If threatening us to dissolve our current govt and form a new temporary govt is not considered as regime change and going against the constitution, then I don't know what is - and this aim is consistent with BERSIH's own admitted funder, the NDI and OSI and in default, the NED.

This threat is why Ambiga is now being investigated by PDRM under Section 124 of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy (aka toppling govt) and her statement was recorded yesterday.

This could also be the reason why PM Najib, when addressing the Haj Pilgrims who was sponsored by 1MDB, said this yesterday:

"Please pray the country is safe, pray for the leaders, where the people would determine who would be in government and who would fall, not outsiders or foreigners,"

If you may like or dislike Najib but our democracy and our sovereign rights should not be determined by foreign agents and foreign nations who fund traitors in our midst.

We make our own changes at the ballot boxes based on our own democracy and on our own terms - either at party elections or the general elections.

Not streets protests that could degenerate into chaos and cause more harm to our economy.

This could happen again and has happened before at BERSIH rallies

We don't need incidents like that right now  - especially since our regional neighbours are also experiencing intense economic pressures at this very moment.

The Economic realities from our neighbours.
- Thailand cuts 2015 GDP forecast, for 3rd time this year, to 3 %, exports will fall.
- World Bank Drastically Cuts Indonesia’s 2015 Economic Growth Forecast.
- Singapore GDP at negative 4.6% in Q2, worse than forecast.
- Philippine q/q growth slowest in 6 years (Q1)
- Brunei exports falls 32% in Q1 2015. May enter third year of negative GDP growth 2013 (-2.1%) and 2014 (-2.3%).
(yang di atas semua dah bertahun-tahun ada GST. Yang takde GST itu yang lebih parah. Brunei sudah dua tahun negatif. Tahun ini also pretty sure Brunei get another negative GDP).
Even Korea, the land of Samsung and K-Pop is struggling - partly due to MERS which has thankfully spared Malaysia so far.
- Korea's 2015 per-capita GDP is expected to drop for the first time in six years.

And Taiwan also reported yesterday that their economy grew at the slowest pace in 3 years 

We don't need more chaos which adds more pressure, instability and uncertainty on Malaysia's economy.

Being led by these people and supporting their foreign-funded moves is as good as supporting treason.

Spread the word on this.

A Tool and a Fool. Did The Edge plan to get themselves suspended?

It seems the Malaysian Home Ministry's directive to suspend the publishing permit of The Edge Weekly and The Edge Financial Daily for three months from July 27 has caused a big reaction and hue and cry from the public, fellow media companies, politicians and of course all those self-proclaimed defenders of "Freedom of Speech/Press/Expression", truth, justice and the American way.

In my opinion, I think many may have fallen into a clever and pre-planned scheme by The Edge's to project themselves as whistle-blower, as the victims and generally to garner lots of sympathy from less alert people.

Used like a tool and we may not know it.

I suspect that The Edge actually wanted to get itself suspended.

When you look at the time-line, you will understand why.

• 22nd June 2015 - Ex-PetroSaudi executive Xavier Justo is arrested in Thailand on suspicions of blackmailing, possession and selling stolen data

At this point in time, all the fingers pointed to Sarawak Report and Clare Brown made a big hue and cry about protecting Xavier Justo. And even wrote an open letter slamming the Switzerland government of not protecting their citizen. 

At this point in time, no one suspected The Edge of colluding with Clare Brown and being a part of the dealings with Xavier Justo. The Edge also kept silent about the arrest of Justo and passed no commentary on it.

•  24th June 2015: Home Minister Zahid says they will investigate The Edge for publishing what it deems to be unverified news.

• 27th June 2015 The Edge said that it will no longer refer to the emails it had published on dealings between 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and PetroSaudi International (PSI) amid doubt over the authenticity of the documents after a former top PSI executive was arrested.

• 1st July 2015 Home Ministry issues show-cause letter to The Edge over using unverified PetroSaudi news in their 1MDB coverage stating why they should not be suspended   

The home minister said after receiving a report on the arrest from their Thai counterparts that included forensic analysis of the leaked data, that the Malaysian authorities concluded the documents had been tampered with in a bid to tarnish the joint venture. 

“We found from the forensic aspect that the leaked data downloaded by the former executive with malicious intent... to distort facts about the transaction between 1MDB and PetroSaudi and the leaked data was published in Sarawak Report and The Edge.

During this period of time, The Edge, whether in its weekly or its daily, kept their word and no longer published articles on 1MDB based on information from the allegedly stolen and tampered PetroSaudi documents.

• 1st July 2015 Home Ministry issues show-cause letter to The Edge over using unverified PetroSaudi news in their 1MDB coverage stating why they should not be suspended   

Again, during this period of time, The Edge, continued its silence on the 1MDB and PetroSaudi dealings. 

• 17th July 2015 - Shock! Horror!  Thai Police suddenly held a press conference in Thailand on the Justo arrests. Both the Bangkok Times and Singapore's Straits Times reported that Justo had met key opposition leaders, Sarawak Report and a Malaysian Media Mogul in Singapore and these people were part of the group that dealt with Xavier Justo. 

At the same press conference, the Thai Police also confirmed that the data was tampered in small but important ways in a bid to undermine the government and overthrow the government. And worst, Thai Police says it has all the proof given by Justo on who and how these people were involved.. 

For the first time, Thai Police essentially hinted that The Edge had become a key suspect.  

Ever skeptical, MalaysiaKini probably did not believe those crony-crony newspapers (such as Straits Times and Bangkok Post from and later on the same day, MalaysiaKini decided to personally contact Thailand Police spokesperson Major-General Prawut Tavornsiri only to be told by the Major General the following: 

"Asked whether the tampering was extensive, Thai police spokesperson major-general Prawut Tavornsiri told Malaysiakini: "The changes are small, but important".
He said Thai police had made this deduction after interviewing Justo, who insisted to them that only the original documents from PSI were passed on to others.

•  20th July 2015 - A mere 3 days later after Thai Police had exposed their name, despite keeping quiet for almost a month and saying they will no longer use the documents and email, The Edge went for broke and came out with the article "How Jho Low & PetroSaudi schemed to steal money from the people of Malaysia via 1MDB".

Front page stuff too. Quite impossible not to have noticed it. 

The Word "Cheated" was used despite all the two Big 4 independent audit companies in their certified audits spanning many years and the interim Auditor General report stating no evidence of money being lost. 

Even the Parliamentary Accounts Committee  (PAC) would not even dare to announce this conclusion of money "cheated".  

And yet The Edge did use that Cheated word. 

Actually, The Edge needn't have bothered publishing this article as it was merely a summary and there was nothing new that was not already published in the many articles that The Edge published in the many months before.

In fact, 1MDB didn't even bother going on a point-by-point rebuttal on this article, as 1MDB had been frequently doing recently, simply issued a short press release saying:

"We are surprised that these old and unproven allegations are being recycled yet again, when in fact there are multiple ongoing investigations being conducted by the lawful authorities on the issues raised previously." said 1MDB

Note: Much of the summary article that The Edge is factually incorrect  which 1MDB had pointed out in their press statements multiple times.

I have also pointed out the errors many times before on my FaceBook page and also in the following blog posts since I started this blog two months ago:

And this was despite having received a show-cause letter from the Home Ministry and the The Edge's own commitment not to use those documents anymore.

Now, if you were the Home Minister and having issued a show-cause letter and The Edge having publicly stated that they will refrain from using the stolen and possibly tampered letters, what would you do?

In essence, The Edge is telling the Home Minister "Up yours KDN and you can stick your stupid show-cause letter where the sun don't shine. I am going to publish it big-big and put it on my cover too. What are you going do about it, huh?"

So, KDN, what you gonna do, huh?

Should the home ministry just twiddle their thumbs and pretend nothing happened or just issue a "please don't do it again" letter?

Of course the Home Minister was left with NO CHOICE but to suspend the Edge.

In fact, KDN should have been bolder and not just suspend their printed dailies and weekly and went all the way and requested MCMC to suspend and block all their digital versions including Malaysia Insider.

I mean, if you want to suspend, you don't take half-measures.

Singapore did this just a few months back by completely disabling their opposition portal "The Real Singapore" even though the charges had not even gone to court yet.

If Singapore can do it, why can't we?

Breaking their own promise to refrain, ignoring the show-cause letter, publishing that article and having such a controversial cover page, it's as if The Edge is forcing the hands of the Home Minister to suspend them.

To not suspend them means, any future directive from the Home Ministry can simply be ignored.

In fact, The Edge expected this was coming and wrote in their article: "We have in this report, which is possibly the last on this subject, laid out all the key facts.."

It wasn't until the exclusive interview with Xavier Justo by Singapore's Straits Times was published two days ago on 24th July 2015 that we found out the reasons why The Edge acted this way and practically begged to get suspended.

In that interview, you would reach the following conclusions:

1. The Edge had offered USD2million to buy the stolen data and had indeed taken possession of the data
2. Various attempts had been made to launder this USD2million although it was not eventually all paid to Xavier Justo - perhaps some have and as Justo hinted, perhaps some of the money may have landed with a midde-person
3. Justo says he has all the proof and has passed all to Thai police and that The Singapore Straits Times have read the full 22-page confession by Justo.
4. Xavier said The Edge had mentioned they had planned to modify the documents and bring down the Malaysian Govt. Treason and conspiracy working with foreign interests.

"I gave the original documents without any kind of alteration," he claimed. "I can say that I gave those documents to two groups of people," he added. One was Ms Rewcastle-Brown and "her IT guy" and the other was the Malaysian businessman and his colleague. 

He alleged that those he met had talked about using the documents "to try to bring down the Malaysian government", adding that they also referred to plans to "modify the documents".

Vary serious charges of treason, falsifying documents, possession of stolen data and money laundering.

Conviction of any of the above crimes in any of the various affected jurisdictions would mean lengthy jail sentences and all the proof is there and a signed confession from a key witness too.

The Edge KNEW that they could not escape so easily and that they were essentially screwed.

Hence, the best thing they could do now is to get themselves suspended and pretend that they are the victims (even though they are the conspirators), pretend that they are whistle-blowers (even if documents were tampered) and get public sympathy from all parties.

The Edge is probably banking on a Trial by Media and incite public sentiments to try to prove themselves as innocent when they know that due to overwhelming evidence, their chances of escaping any charges are slim to none now.

Truth to be told, trying to act like a hero and trying to draw sympathy is pretty much all that The Edge can do right now.

It's got nothing to do with them being brave, if not, they would not have publicly agreed to stop publishing those emails then and actually refrained for one month.

It's because they were publicly identified and named by Thai Police and Justo that they knew their end was near and hence they had to make this final step to get themselves banned and at least, win some public support.

The Edge would of course say they did no wrong but then again, many millions of criminals before their trial and even after they are in prison still claim they did no wrong.

Yes, many of us have been used by The Edge.

Don't be easily fooled.

In the process, many people got used.  But then again, this is Malaysia and us Malaysians are easily used all the time - like when we were used by stories of 40,000 Bangladeshi and Blackouts that never happen even though so many of us were absolutely convinced all these happened - but yet, it didn't happen as we all soon found out.

Note:, If you are thinking that the bunch of bankrupts accusing Sarawak Report of forging documents are not credible,. please read this one and you will realize how easily your attention is diverted and how easily your perceptions are being manipulated.

 Here's my final message to The Edge and all their fellow conspirators.:

Unequal treatment - a Thai Major General and a bankrupt former employee

This entire post can be summarized with this picture. So, if you don't want to continue reading my "cheong-hei" post, you can just chew on the picture.

Attacking the weakest link hoping that if weakest link breaks, people will forget that two other more credible parties also said the 1MDB documents were tampered.

Thai Police Major-General Prawut Tavornsiri have pretty much confirmed that stolen documents sold by Xavier Justo, which after having left Justo's hands to Sarawak Report had been tampered with in minor but important ways to led to significant change in meaning.

Now, before you shout ... but hey! Free Malaysia Today quoted New Straits Times, the UMNO-BN crony mainstream paper, it is important to note that:

Thailand's major newspaper, Bangkok Post had reported this earlier - even BEFORE NST came out with their article:

"This wrongdoing took place in Singapore," he said, adding that police found traces of the data being tampered with by the buyer."

And Singapore's top newspaper The Straits Times ALSO reported this earlier - again, even BEFORE NST came out with their article: 

Thai police Chief said "The data on the *Sarawak Report) blog has been TAMPERED WITH to discredit PM Najib."
Ever skeptical, MalaysiaKini probably did not believe those crony-crony newspapers from around the region and later on the same day, MalaysiaKini decided to personally contact Thailand Police spokesperson Major-General Prawut Tavornsiri only to be told by the Major General the following:

Oops!! Re-confirmation that after the documents left Xavier Justo, someone had made "small but important" changes.

Meanwhile Lester Melanyi had reportedly alleged recently that almost 90 per cent of the content in a report of Sarawak Report on government investment company 1Malaysia Development Berhad had been tampered with to tarnish the image of the Malaysian government and topple Najib.

Melanyi had reportedly admitted to having met Swiss national Xavier Andre Justo, a former executive of PetroSaudi International Ltd now held in Bangkok, who had allegedly handed over 10 per cent of the documents related to 1MDB to Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

Sarawak Report owner Clare Brown had admitted that Melanyi used to work for her Radio Free Sarawak but Melanyi had never written a "single word" for the Sarawak Report site,

But later on, this was reported

"Clare Brown insisted, however, that Lester’s allegations were untrue, including his claim that he had worked for her website, although she admitted to paying him a “few ringgit” once for helping provide an unrelated story."

How much is a “few ringgit”?

I thought Clare Brown previously said Lester has no relationship with Sarawak Report and that he was not credible and never wrote a single word for Sarawak Report?

OH NO!

Clare Brown seems to have changed her story so fast?.

Anyway, back to the main topic..

Now, it appears Sarawak Report wants to sue Cabinet Minister Rahman Dahlan saying  "Sorry, This Time We Are Going To Have To Sue!

BN’s so-called strategic communications chief, Abdul Rahman Dahlan, a minister for housing, has on the same grounds outrageously libelled the writer, calling her “scum” and labelled our research as “blatant lies”.

Tony Pua also wants to sue Lester Melanyi

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua will be serving Lester Melanyi a letter of demand this week following a video recording by Lester that claimed the irregularities on 1MDB were faked. 

Pua said in a statement tonight that the letter from his lawyers will seek an apology from the former Sarawak Tribune journalist and will also be sent to others who repeat Lester's claims that implicate Pua in a conspiracy to fabricate information regarding 1MDB.

Side-track a bit. Lester Melanyi is not the only person that Tony Pua wants to sue.

He essentially wants to sue everyone who shares or repeats Lester's allegations - probably including news portals, FaceBook users who shares the same news, those who tweet and even bloggers like me!

Tony warned on his FaceBook post yesterday:

I will send a real "Letter of Demand" to Lester Melanyi and anyone else I find republishing and repeating Lester's ridiculously baseless assertions.

A few days back, the champion of free-speech, Tony Pua also threatened to sue an ordinary FaceBook users (who happens to be a retiree) who so happened to comment on Tony's FaceBook page who asked him a few questions.

Careful when commenting on Tony Pua's FaceBook page. You may get sued!

For some reason, Tony immediately asked for that person's address and said he will get his lawyers to send him a letter of demand. This was in the comments of Tony's post here: https://www.facebook.com/MPTonyPua/posts/10153516902554917

Latest is that Tony Pua also wants to sue the Government for legitimately imposing a travel ban on him as he is under investigation.

That means that in the space of less than one week after the Thai Police held a press conference on the Xavier Justo case where they said the documents were tampered and that up to 10 persons were implicated, Tony Pua has pretty much threatened to sue the whole world.

Wow, just because you are scared does not mean you need to take over Anwar's post as the "U Ulang, I Saman" King of Malaysia.

Tony Pua further attacked Lester Melanyi by providing evidence saying that Melanyi is a bankrupt.

Personally, I don't see what has a person being bankrupt has to do with spilling the beans. Maybe Lester may make some money from this but it does not mean what he is saying is untrue or should not be taken seriously and investigated.

In fact, Lester was willing to have his statement taken by Police and was interrogated for two days at Bukit Aman. I don't see Clare Brown or Tony Pua doing the same though.

And if allegations by Thai Police was true, then it also looks like Sarawak Report and their gang also had no problems paying RM10 million to buy stolen data.

Buying stolen data is a crime but tampering the data and selectively releasing the information is also a crime - which is what Thai Police had said - the data has been tampered in "small but important" ways after it left Xavier Justo's hands in a plot by a bunch of people to destabilize the Prime Minister and the Government.

Lester Melanyi also said the same thing, which is the data has been tampered by Sarawak Report.

But somehow Clare Brown, Tony Pua and all the media assets aligned to them seems to be wanting to sue and attacking Lester Melanyi and gang.

No one seems to be attacking Thai Police Major-General Prawut Tavornsiri even though he said the same thing repeatedly and to international media too.

No one wants to sue Major-General Prawut and call him a liar too?

In fact, neither Tony Pua, nor Lim Kit Siang, nor Clare Brown nor Sarawak report said a single word about what Major-General Prawut told the world, which is essentially the same as Melanyi's claims. ZERO!

I find this strange.

Perhaps it is a tactic to divert the public's attention to Lester and trying to make us forget that Thailand Police said the documents were tampered in "small but important" ways after it left Xavier Justo's hands.

That is the bottom line.

Incidentally, In the interview by The Malay Mail with Protection Group International (PGI) managing director Brian Lord OBE titled "Sarawak Report data on 1MDB ‘unreliable’, says PGI chief" also said:

“There are many inconsistencies between the published data and the data which still exists on files within PetroSaudi relating to that period of time. Simply put, it is incomplete data, creatively selected and edited to fit a desired narrative.   

Lord added investigations by PGI revealed Sarawak Report had a “subtract of some emails chain and some documentation”. He, however, stopped short of divulging the contents of the emails and data Sarawak Report received. 

“It is a combination of all those three things; inconsistency between the original and published reports, substitutable communication and the whole private information claim into Sarawak Report … I can firmly say the information is unreliable and, therefore, it is unfair for anybody to draw judgments on it.”

But somehow, Sarawak Report and Clare Brown also don't want to sue Brian Lord OBE and PGI, (who essentially said the same things as Lester Melanyi and the Thai Police). But they decided to run down his credibility, although in a very laughable manner.

To be honest, although what Lester has said is consistent with what Thai Police chief had said,  I personally don't trust Lester Melanyi as much mainly because he used to work for Sarawak Report and Clare Brown.

It is my belief that this already severely dents Lester's credibility as Sarawak Report had been publishing so many lies and tampered documents since 2011. 

This includes the famous 40,000 foreign voters at GE13 story that Sarawak Report posted titled "Down at the airport!"

If you look at that article, Sarawak report attached loads and loads of documents, emails and photos and "concrete proof" that, in their conclusion was: 

"And if that means shipping in tens of thousands of foreign illegal voters and putting tens of thousands more into BN T-shirts all to con an election from his own people, then it seems he is prepared to try and carry it off. 

But Najib’s actions are being watched by the entire nation now and they are likely to do far more damage than good to his cause of winning this election “at any cost”."

The many emails, documents and photos that Sarawak Report said in their article that were "concrete proof "of their allegations of tens of thousands of Phantom Voters

As everyone knows by now, months later these allegations were found to be untrue even though so many people were utterly convinced of it at that time.

Months later, all the opposition leaders and the "independent" media washed their hands off the story of the phantom voters (and also the blackouts) and they never mentioned these issues ever again. How convenient! 

Later, BERSIH's official GE13 report found that there was no such things.

No no, there were no blackouts,” said Bersih steering committee member (and now President) Maria Chin Abdullah when asked if observers had witnessed any blackouts as alleged by Pakatan Rakyat, as well as by numerous commentators on the social media after the GE. 

“We also didn’t know about these foreign voters. There were several reports of that but we didn’t see any,” she added. 

Yup, I'd rather believe the Thai police chief rather than Clare, Tony Pua or Lester Melanyi combined,

We admit and we surrender

We surrender. (well, not me)

After Thai Police Chief had said that 10 persons dealt with Xavier Justo in the sale of stolen date, The Edge's publisher probably lost his nerves and today admitted that they have met Justo and obtained the stolen information from him.

Ho Kay Tat , The Publisher & Group CEO of The Edge Media Group had said they have two choices then:

1) Drop the matter like a hot potato and walk away, or
2) Get hold of everything so that the truth can be uncovered. We decided we had to pursue the truth.

There was actually a third choice: Announce to the world that they have these data and officially turning over the stolen data to the authorities and give your statement.

He has finally done this now as Ho said On Monday, we handed documents, printed emails and a hard disc to Bank Negara. Today, the same set was given to the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) of the Police. I also gave a statement to CCID.

If this was so easy to do, why didn't you do it then and commit crime by handling stolen data and publishing them for months?

Now that Thai Police said the data was tampered in "small but important" ways after it left Justo and were about to reveal the 10 persons which would have included your name then only you admit ?

Also, Ho Kay Tat said  "Some of the information have been used in articles we have published in the last few months. Some were just too sensitive to be used. "

I seriously don't believe you would find any information that is too sensitive to use or print. Can you tell us what these are? Does this involve the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia and the office of the King?

And why only reveal such a small part of the alleged 3 million emails?

Because of your actions, I can only conclude that The Edge Media group and Ho Kay Tat may have committed the following crimes

1) Dealing in stolen data (already definite)
2) Buying stolen data (very possible)
3) Manipulating data (possible)
4) Money Laundering in Singapore (very possible)
5) Not reporting or with-holding information on a possible crime (possible)
6) Conspiracy to topple a government (possible)
7) Economic treason (mildly possible)
8) Contravened printing and publishing acts (possible)

It is good that The Edge have finally admitted to having and dealing with these stolen data.

If Thai Police is correct in saying that The Edge was part of the 10 persons, can Thai Police also be right to say that the data was tampered in small but important ways after it left Justo?

You are a licensed publisher and you should not have even done any of these in the first place - especially if data was tampered or the story taken out of sequence and context.

Thus it does not mean that the story that they gave is true or complete - especially since the Auditors - both international as well as Auditor-General could not find any information on loss of money.

I can and have also point out many errors in their stories, which i believe, came from embellishing the story to paint it in a certain way - as part of a political conspiracy and political attacks.

However which way you look at it, Mr Ho and The Edge has committed various crimes.

It is a question of who else is similarly implicated and what other country's jurisdiction would these people be charged under too.

It is also a question of what and how The Edge painted the story and how much it differs from the true story.

We await the next episode but we want YOU to know that your selfish actions of not doing the right thing and picked option 3 have made Malaysia and Malaysians suffer for almost the entire 2015 so far - this is unacceptable.

I guess you never expected Justo to have been caught by Thailand police, right?

Would you have written this admission and turned the data over the police if Justo was never caught and spilled the beans?

I think not.

I do suspect that The Edge and possibly Malaysian Insider could soon be shut down by KDN.

We are lucky that Fitch Ratings saw through your crap and upgraded our outlook and maintained our credit rating. If not, the damage could have been even more severe as Fitch had been scared of your 1MDB story for months.

Any downgrade then would have meant billions of additional interest costs per year for both the government and the private sector.

Conspiracy is no stranger to Tun Mahathir

Happy belated 90th birthday, Tun M.

I would like to share a few opinion of mine on your latest blog post today titled "Conspiracy" - from one rakyat blogger (me) to another blogger (Che Det).

The numbered points in italics are what Tun M wrote:

1. There has been much talk by certain people of a conspiracy to overthrow Dato Sri Najib as Prime Minister. 

2. Is there a conspiracy? Is there someone or some group conspiring i.e moving in secret in the underground to overthrow Najib. There could have been before but apart from people complaining privately about their dissatisfaction with Najib’s administration, no one was planning his overthrow. That is not to say that they did welcome the idea of his resigning or vacating his post. But active underground planning and action there was none. 

3. What we do know now is that I had openly called for his stepping down. No conspiracy. Just open declaration to the whole nation that I would like to see Najib cease to be Prime Minister. 

4 So if any investigation is to be made, there is no need for detectives or special agents. That there is a move or push for Dato Sri Najib to step down is known to everyone. 

5. So again where is the conspiracy!! It is all in the open. There is no need to conspire. There is open campaigning for his ceasing to be Prime Minister.

No. I am sure there are no conspiracies, whatsoever. 

Just a bunch of old friends who happens to catching up for old time sakes. I am sure you and your friends have been best of buddies with British National Clare Brown, - who so happens to run the Sarawak Report who has been critical of Government since it was started in 2011 -  for a long long time.

Here are some happy pictures from the January 14th 2015 "catch-up session" at Tun M's own office which was proudly published by Sarawak Report itself.

At the start of article, Brown claimed it was Dr Mahathir who made the first move. “Dr Mahathir... had invited the editor of Sarawak Report to the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya to discuss issues relating to Sarawak’s environmental and human rights record.”

No conspiracy whatsoever - just discussing uhm... "Sarawak’s environmental and human rights record."

No conspiracy either - just a Wefie of a catch-up session between two very dear old friends who were never critical of each other and always on the same side of truth, justice and fairness.

It is just pure coincidence that within a month of this catch up at Tun M's office, Sarawak Report then published their "Heist of the Century" article with a bunch of (apparently tampered) documents about 1MDB and PetroSaudi's deal.

And of course, the legally bankrupt Datuk Khairuddin Abu Hassan also happened to make a MACC report against 1MDB the next day on Jan 15th after your catch-up with Clare Brown.

5th June 2015: Secara kebetulan, Khairuddin and Tun M at Nothing2Lose forum

Of course, Khairuddin and Tun M are just normal friends and they happened to bump into each other at the Nothing2Lose forum a few months later and happened to be sitted next to each other.

So happens that Khairuddin and Sarawak Report's Clare Brown are also common friends (it's a small small world after all) and Khairuddin then went to London and met Clare Brown a few days before 1st July 2015 - probably for tea with biscuits and scones too. Khairuddin in his FB post said it was "Secara kebetulan saya sempat berjumpa dengan kawan baik iaitu claire rewcastle brown; editor sarawak report di london beberapa hari yang lepas.".

RM100 big and RM100 small please: Can start buying 4D already. Who knows? So happen to bumping into by chance that 1 person out of 8.3 million in London is 830,000 times better odds than the 1 out of 10,000 that you get with striking top price in 4D. 

Of course secara kebetulan since London is a small city of 8.31 million people only and just a mere 5.5 times bigger than Kuala Lumpur. Little bit bigger only. Not much.

What a coincidence ! Secara kebetulan we manage to meet in London. It must be fate!

Of course it was again another amazing "kebetulan" that just the next day after Khairuddin posted that he had secara kebetulan met Clare Brown a few days earlier, Wall Street Journal and Sarawak Report so happens to get their hands on some documents of unknown origins which Sarawak Report then posted "Sensational findings".

Yup. More "kebetulan". It's Magnum 4D time for sure.

However, luck is not always on your side.

It's just a bit of bad luck that Sarawak Report's Clare Brown may be in a bit of trouble right now since Thai Police have pretty much confirmed that stolen documents sold by Xavier Justo, which after having left Justo's hands to Sarawak Report had been tampered with in minor but important ways to led to significant change in meaning.

Now, before you shout ... but hey! Free Malaysia Today quoted New Straits Times, the UMNO-BN crony mainstream paper, it is important to note that:

Thailand's major newspaper, Bangkok Post had reported this earlier - even BEFORE NST came out with their article:

"This wrongdoing took place in Singapore," he said, adding that police found traces of the data being tampered with by the buyer."

And Singapore's top newspaper The Straits Times ALSO reported this earlier - again, even BEFORE NST came out with their article: 

Thai police Chief said "The data on the *Sarawak Report) blog has been TAMPERED WITH to discredit PM Najib."
Ever skeptical, MalaysiaKini probably did not believe those crony-crony newspapers from around the region and later on the same day, MalaysiaKini decided to personally contact Thailand Police spokesperson Major-General Prawut Tavornsiri only to be told by the Major General the following:

"Asked whether the tampering was extensive, Thai police spokesperson major-general Prawut Tavornsiri told Malaysiakini: "The changes are small, but important". 

He said Thai police had made this deduction after interviewing Justo, who insisted to them that only the original documents from PSI were passed on to others.

Oops!! Re-confirmation that after the documents left Xavier Justo, someone had made "small but important" changes.

As a side-note and "secara kebetulan", Thailand Police Chief also said at least one out of the 10 persons who had made contact with Xavier Justo is from UMNO. Thailand English newspaper, The Nation had reported that this person includes a "former key politician" in Malaysia.

How key and how former?

And since Datuk Khairuddin has such good fortune to bump into Clare Brown in the 8.3million population London, perhaps he could use his extra-ordinary luck to help us guess who this "former key politician" is?

It gets worse! Singapore authorties could be getting involved too as apparently Justo's case also involves money-laundering

The spokesman also offered to share information with the Singapore police. "This case should be reported in Singapore because the money laundering to attack the PM started in Singapore," he said. "If the Singapore police ask me for evidence (through) the foreign affairs protocol, I can send it."

Just so you know, the penalties for money laundering in Singapore is up to ten years jail. Good luck!

Anyway, Tun Mahathir is definitely incapable of lying since he is apparently "Anugerah Allah" (according to PERKASA's Ibrahim Ali) and we do believe him when he said he there is no conspiracy. - just heck of a lot of kebetulan and tampered documents only.

Anugerah Allah is incapable of telling a lie.

Definitely, we also believe Tun Mahathir when he repeated many times recently that Malaysia is in the top ten most corrupt countries in the world - despite the fact that Malaysia is ranked by Transparency International in their 2014 Corruption Perceptions Index at the top 30% least corrupt in the world at number 50th place out of 174 countries.

NOT EDITED!!! (not) : As you can see in the Transparency International 2014 table Malaysia is most corrupted in the world - we are not 50th out of 174 least corrupt - but at number 175th out of 174 most corrupt.

Of course ordinary Malaysians brought up on a steady diet of DAP's lies and propaganda would know that Malaysians are worse-off than happy places such as Syria, North Korea, Somalia etc..

Okay... let's continue with Tun M's blog post:

6. Lately we are seeing many funny statements. The Utusan loudly proclaimed that the Prime Minister had taken action against the Wall Street Journal. 

7. Actually it was not legal action or suing for defamation. Just politely asking the Wall Street Journal why do they publish the article. 

8. Is there a need to ask that silly question? Isn’t it obvious that as a newspaper the information obtained by Wall Street Journal was sensational. Any newspaper, convinced of the authenticity of the information would have printed it. Of course the local mainstream papers will not for obvious reasons. 

9. To ingratiate themselves with the Prime Minister they would rather mislead people. The sub-editors are good at writing misleading headlines. For example when a statement is made to let the task force of four do their work this is headlined as support for the Prime Minister.

Sorry Tun M, you may be mistaken here again or perhaps did not read Najib's lawyer letter to WSJ properly..

Najib's lawyer letter did not ask WHY the Wall Street Journal published the article. Najib's letter, please understand that this is just the first step in the process and is necessary before a specific defamation charge can be filed.

This is because WSJ was a bit cowardly in their article and Najib's lawyers want to nail their position.

WSJ had said in their very same article that they did not know where the funds comes from but on the other hand they said the funds comes from 1MDB.
It's like WSJ saying we are not sure whether the ball is blue or whether it is indeed a ball and then saying the ball is blue.

So, which is which? Did WSJ say Najib stole the RM2.6b from 1MDB and masuk poket or not? WSJ needs to confirm this.

Najib's lawyer letter stated this: "In the circumstances, we are instructed by our Client to seek confirmation as to whether it is your position as taken in the Articles that our Client misappropriated nearly USD 700 million from 1Malaysia Development Berhad?"

Therefore, Najib's letter is to nail down WSJ's position before they can proceed to the next stage.

If Najib sued WSJ saying that WSJ defamed Najib by saying he stole money from 1MDB, WSJ could easily say This is to prevent WSJ from saying "but we also said we don't know where the funds were from".

The last part of the letter is also very good:

"please let us know whether you have appointed solicitors in Malaysia to accept service of legal proceedings on your behalf and on behalf of the reporters who wrote the Articles".

Looks like Najib is following Singapore's advice and suing under Malaysian laws and courts which are much stricter.

Remember that this is a first step. Najib has never stopped his legal proceedings against Mkini, Tony Pua and Rafizi and definitely won't be pulling back this time on WSJ.

And even more shocking! of all people, Anwar Ibrahim's Chief legal council Sankaran Nair also agrees with my view and Najib lawyer's legal letter to WSJ.

Lawyer who is no stranger to "U ulang, I saman" defamation cases agrees with Najib's lawyers' letter to WSJ

And this lawyer is famous for representing Anwar in many of his famous RM50 million or RM100 million "you ulang, I saman" defamation suits against others.

Lawyer S.N. Nair was of the view that it was not an exception to ask for clarification and particulars before filing a civil action.

"I have adopted this step before making demands and instituting lawsuits on behalf of my clients," he added. 

Nair, who has represented former opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in defamation suits, said he would expect a responsible lawyer to act prudently. 

"In the course of carrying out one's professional duty, a lawyer must also ensure his or her reputation is not at stake," he added.

Unless Tun M is a lawyer or have vast experience in defamation cases, perhaps Tun M should not have called the lawyer letter as silly.

For the record, Tun M apparently has never sued anyone for defamation in his life - he either suspends all the Supreme Court judges, throws people in ISA or just ignores all those very very nasty things said about him by foreign media and DAP over the past decades and pretends not to hear them.

10. Then there was a minister who, after saying that the interim report shows nothing wrong with 1MDB, then went on to advise people not to say anything about 1MDB until the report is out. But he himself had made a premature statement. 

11. To all comments made against 1MDB, the standard answer is to deny, to say “No it is not true.” It is like somebody upon being asked whether he had stolen the money as alleged, simply denies that he had stolen, expecting the judge to acquit him simply because he denied.  

12. There is no denial that money was deposited in the private account. The explanation to UMNO is that it was for the elections. UMNO seems satisfied. Don’t they know that Government money cannot be used to help a political party to win elections? But the money was from donation. Who donated 2 billion Ringgit? No answer.

Since the report and investigations have not come out now, how did Tun M come to the conclusion that the alleged money is from government?

Already the Auditor-General's preliminary report and the international auditor Deloitte also cannot find proof of any money missing from 1MDB.

So, if no money is missing from 1MDB then how did 1MDB money get stolen? Strange.

Is Tun M suggesting that UMNO is now a poor party after he left it and all those alleged UMNO-linked or allegedly UMNO-owned firms of the past such as Renong, KUB, Tanjung, Media Prima, Peremba, Time, TRI etc have all ceased to exist?

What happened to all their money and their companies?

And how the heck did Tun M fund past General elections before? Out of your own pocket?

And are you sure there are no companies or tycoons willing to donate money to the ruling party, UMNO-BN for the purpose of elections?

And do you seriously believe that we should list out the names of all the donors who probably wants to keep their donations private for fear of public boycotts?

Even DAP disagrees with making political donors transparent at the moment.

DAP election strategist Dr Ong Kian Ming, who is also Serdang MP, says the proposal to regulate political finances would only be viable if there is a genuinely level playing field.“My fear is that this may be used as a tool to ‘scare’ people off from contributing to opposition parties.

It is truly astonishing that Tun M is now asking for all the donors to be listed publicly right now - it's just not going to happen, is unrealistic and Tun M understands the reasons why.

Anyway, since Tun M says that UMNO members seem to accept this reason now, then I see no reason why Najib needs to resign as UMNO president and Prime Minister right now.

Okay, let's continue with Tun M's blog. It's getting a bit long now.

13. But what about BR1M? Isn’t it Government money, all 7 billion Ringgit and more. That was clever. It is not for elections but given before any election, with the promise of more if the party wins, isn’t it about using Government money to win elections?

14. Truly cash is king!!

BR1M was given in 2012 (not election year), in 2013 (election year), 2014 (not election year), 2015 (not election year) and will probably be given in 2016 (probably not election year) and in 2017 (probably not election year) - therefore Tun M's dissertation that BR1M is given just before election is WRONG!

How can BR1M be an election bribe by BN if it is paid every year and not just on election year?

How can BR1M be an election bribe by BN if Pakatan had already said that they will continue BR1M if they win and hence remove any advantage that the govt has with just one statement?

Many countries have BR1M like schemes - such as the USA's famous food stamps program which they have been running for decades.

There is no doubt that programs such as BR1M helps in transferring money from the rich to the poor directly and can assist in reducing our income inequality.

Only very deluded people thinks that BR1M is a replacement for a normal salary and makes the people dependent on govt or makes them lazy. How can anyone or any family live with RM600 a year or RM1.65 per day?

BR1M is not meant to be a salary replacement but a supplement to their normal salary so that they can live better!

Yes, there could be abuses in BR1M where money could have been given to people that don't deserve it but with so many people avoiding income tax and properly declaring their assets, how can we 100% avoid such abuses?

Even in the unlikely event that up to 5% of the people are abusing this system, the fact that 95% of the people are receiving much needed help is more than enough reason to continue with BR1M. Govt just needs to continually tighten up monitoring and weed out the abusers.

Do we punish the 95% of those who needs it most for the actions of the 5%?

That would be kejam.

Tun M, as you can see from above, BR1M is a policy tool to re-distribute income already used in many countries and has now been proven effective in Malaysia..

As policy measures such as BR1M and minimum wages take effect, Income inequality is on the decline in Malaysia while all income groups experience significant yearly growth in income levels.

As a result, the Gini co-efficient that monitors income equality has seen a drop from 0.441 in 2009 to 0.401 in 2014. The lower the Gini score, the more equal it is.

No prizes for guessing who made income inequality so high before Najib became PM and implemented all these policy measures to improve equality. 

Maybe you should ask Tun M or his friends, Daim, Halim Saad, Tajuddin Ramli, Ananda Krishnan etc why it was so unequal in the past.

15. Then there is this insistence that since Najib was elected, no one has any right to demand he should step down. 

16. How short is their memory. Don’t they remember Abdullah who was also elected being asked by Najib to step down. And he did. 

17. And I myself, also an elected PM, did step down in 2003. 

18. All over the world elected Presidents and Prime Ministers have been asked or forced to step down and they all did. In fact in some countries, if something untoward happens, Ministers, Prime Ministers step down. 

19. So don’t be silly and demand that since Najib was elected, no one has a right to ask him to step down. Abdullah won more seats in 2008 than Najib in 2013. If Abdullah was prepared to step down, Najib after his poor performance in the general election should not even offer to be the PM. He should resign from being President of UMNO and head of BN and let somebody else lead and become PM.

Well, I am not sure if PM Najib ever asked Pak Lah to step down as Prime Minister since all the public pressure for Pak Lah to step down seemed to have come from Tun M.

And Pak Lah has never accused Najib of asking him to step down and continues to blame Tun M until this day.

If I listened to Mahathir, Malaysia would be bankrupt said Pak Lah.

“Perhaps I should have been more vehement in defending and explaining these issues. I could have retaliated by exposing Mahathir. But what good would have come out of this for the government and party?” he said. 

If not for Tun M being the patronage of PERKASA and driving away the majority of non-Malay votes (thank you Tun and Ibrahim Ali), PM Najib did relatively well in GE 13:

• He won back Perak and Kedah state governments which was lost in GE12
• He did not lose any state govt. Tun M had lost Kelantan and Terengganu state govts in the past and he never won them back - ever.
• Najib also won 10 additional seats for UMNO compared to GE12

Hence, Najib actually did pretty well for UMNO in GE13 and hence as President of UMNO, he becomes president of BN and by default, the Prime Minister.

I guess UMNO is relatively happy with Najib and hence UMNO leaders agree to postpone their party elections to 2018 after GE14 and you yourself say it is normal.

Glad you agree, Tun M and glad that Tun M respects the decision of UMNO leaders.

And due to the systems that Tun M have put in place before, then there is certainly no need for PM Najib to resign if he does not want to resign - just because you felt ignored and wants him to resign.

Interview by The Weekend Australian with Tun Mahathir 13^th June 2015

Although Tun M may feel that "They still owe it all to you" as per your recent interview in Australia, I think PM Najib owes it to Malaysia to complete his transformation journey and implement unpopular but necessary and urgent policies such as BR1M, Minimum wages, subsidy rationalization, tax reforms such as GST and others.

Policies that are unpopular now but necessary for long-term growth and sustainability of Malaysia's future. No economist in the world would say that Najib's policies above are wrong.

I am sure Tun M understands this.

20. There is this suggestion that the amendment to the election rules in UMNO was meant to make it more democratic. Very many more members would vote in the UMNO elections than the 2,000 or so delegates to the UMNO General Assembly. 

21. Actually the intention is to limit the number of entities involved in the election. The winners would be those getting the biggest number of divisions voting for. Effectively this means the real electors have been reduced from 2,000 to about 190 UMNO divisions. 

The number of members voting for a candidate is nullified. Far from making UMNO elections more democratic, Najib has actually restricted the right to vote from ordinary members to just the divisions. And Najib has a strangle-hold over most of the division heads. 

22. So much for more democracy in UMNO.

The previous bonus votes and quota system in the UMNO party elections and how it kept Tun M in power for 22 years.

Bonus votes? got such things? I thought 1 person 1 vote. lo - unless the bonus votes comes from the non-existent 40k Banglas.

Turns out the bonus votes are not like bonuslink points and the quota was not actually Bumi quotas when in the context of the UMNO party elections.

Undemocratic Bonus system in the past - a bonus only to the incumbents and makes it hard for challengers to even get nominated.

After the 1987 Team A vs Team B fight where Tun M won with only 43 votes against Ku Li despite receiving more nominations from the divisions, Tun M decided to change the way the party elections are determined.

Using the excuse to of preventing “fake nominations”, Tun M then introduced the bonus-vote system in which 10 bonus votes would be automatically added to those contesting for party president for every nomination they receive.

Definitely during the nominations stage, division leaders will be pressured to nominate the incumbent - hence this system essentially guarantees a win for the incumbent.

Obviously this flaky bonus-vote system was not democratic. Thus, UMNO abolished this in 1998 and replaced it with an equally iffy quota system.

This quota system requires those contesting for president to receive at least 30% of all divisions nominations BEFORE they even have the right to contest.

This means that you require at least 63 divisions (out of 210 divisions then) to officially nominate you before you even qualify to challenge the president.

Essentially, your fate depended on just 210 division heads that the President could easily control. Chances were not that good, of course.

In essence, the "Bonus votes" and "Quota system" were cowardly undemocratic systems put in place by Tun M to prevent any challenge to him.

However, Najib did not wish to hide behind the quota system and scrapped it in Oct 2009 - meaning that anyone who received a nomination from any division can challenge for any post within UMNO.

Also in an effort to curb money politics, Najib increased the number of people qualified to vote from just 2,500 to 146,500 UMNO members.

Compared to the nomination and quota system previously which depended on just 210 persons to determine who can be President, trying to control and buy votes from 146,500 people is much much harder.

Najib was this brave enough to transform the party and also democratic enough to put the fate of his PM and party president position in the hands of 146,500 party members - which he did in the 2013 UMNO party elections.

This new UMNO party elections system introduced by UMNO in 2009 is called the electoral college system - the very same system used in the USA presidential elections. 

Say what? Tun M says Electoral College system is undemocratic? Biar betul1

I am sure you don't really want to accuse the USA of having unfair elections system.

UMNO Sec-Gen Tengku Adnan said the system was chosen for the party elections, which for the first time will see about 150,000 members voting for supreme council members, as it was deemed the most practical due to the large number of voters involved.

“We have explained to party members how the system works. Although each division represents one vote, the grassroots will still be the deciders because it is they who will first vote to determine candidates their division will support,”  

It is certainly insulting to all UMNO membes when Tun M says that the division leaders of 190 division will determine the votes for that division.

Assoc Prof Shaharuddin Badaruddin from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) said that while division chiefs sympathetic towards certain candidates could attempt to sway their members’ sentiments by organising activities for the candidates, they would still not be able to guarantee votes because of the large number of branch members who will be voting.

Please respect the large number of UMNO branch members and give them credit - their votes now make a difference and is what counts and they should be independent to vote who they want without having to follow the orders of the branch leaders blindly.

Hence, Tun M is mistaken again. UMNO party elections have become more democratic and less about money politics.

At least after PM Najib's UMNO elections reforms, people actually gets a chance to be nominated (all you need is one nomination) and to contest - unlike your dodgy bonus votes and quota nomination system which stopped candidates from even being nominated and even before they had a chance to run.
